anybody have a basic recipe for a granola bar- or any idea on how to construct a granola bar out of flour, oats, coconut milk, rice, earth balance, liquid sweetener like molasses/maple syrup, crystallized ginger, and soy milk?
what proportions should i use???
p.s///any suggestions on what to use empty soy yogurt containers for? besides mini planting pots?

Re: DIY granola bars and soy yogurt containers
Sun, January 15, 2006 - 1:29 AMI know I would leave out the flour unless it was sprouted grain flour. I have been expewrimenting with just such things and I appreciate your combination ideas send me email and we can create your perfect bar! Soy containers I would use for left overs or food I wished to share or dressings. But starter pots are great, oh you could sprout in them as well! just punch several holes in the bottom but that would extensive work so skip that idea. -

Re: DIY granola bars and soy yogurt containers
Thu, March 30, 2006 - 5:19 PMhey - still thinking about the "rranola bars?
I just found out hat I'm allergic to soy, almonds and peanuts(!!! major bummer)
so out goes the soy milk and earth balance. but rice milk can do.. and cashew butter is a great alternative to almond butter. I try to eat all my nuts raw, so its hard to find raw nut butters at the store besides almond. bah.
I agree on the no flour content.. but I have been experimenting with blending raw oats to make an oat flour.
soy yogurt containers- i just had a thought - could be used as molds to create not *rranola bars, but oat cakes! kinda like *rranola cakes.. or something. hockey pucks. a base of coconut oil/ coconut milk would be good, I guess, combined with a raw nut butter to create a binding agent. then of course oats and dried chopped fruit can be mixed in... I have raw wheat germ and raw flax seeds.. those can be added in too for a healthy benefit. spices ... cinnamon is all i really have besides paprika, salt, pepper, dulse and dried seaweed. but i guess those can go in too..?
the ingredients that i have at home are always fluctuating... so lets make this a flexible recipe.
any thoughts? -

Re: DIY granola bars and soy yogurt containers
Wed, April 12, 2006 - 3:43 PMHave you tried organic almonds which had been soake 12 hours then rinsed? big difference in their chemical make-up. I do not use soy for anything. I am playing with sprouted grains including oats. 1000% more nutrients and more easily assimilated by your body. Emaill me if you'd like to sample some of my experiements. synergychef@yahoo.com
